Want to podfic but you think your voice or your accent stinks? Well, it doesn't. Not at all. Everyone has something to bring to the table. Wait! What accent? "Are you telling the pehples they have ahcents when they do not have an ahcent?" Why, yes, yes we are!
Now, I'm going to go against this and say that I have an American/Texan accent, but I'm recording Harry Potter fics with a British one. I know, I know, everyone is going to complain at me for this, but it doesn't feel right to do these with my Southern drawl, and I have been practising. We'll see. If it's awful, horrible, I'll go back and rerecord with my normal voice, which one British person, who said my British sounded "normal" to her, told me that my normal voice was "cute". La sigh. We'll see.
Every podficcer has an accent; sometimes that accent matches that of the canon character, sometimes it doesn't. Every accent is special and brings something to the podfic, it represents the podficcer and reminds us just how diverse fandom can be. Come celebrate accents and learn more about them in podfic atpod_aware on LJ or DW.
