snarry_ldws round 4 week 6 prompt: wedding jitters, "osculate"; I was voted out on this one.
Harry had been running his hands over every little thing: the satiny ribbons, the flower petals, up and down his dress robes, over the basket of sachets. He kept checking and rechecking that everything was in place as guests began filing into the atrium.
"Honestly, Potter, quit fidgeting," harassed Snape next to him.
"Sorry. I'm nervous, is all. Don't want to screw anything up," he said.
"Well, attempt to calm yourself. I'm about to walk you down the aisle and I don't need you collapsing upon my appendages," huffed Snape.
Suddenly, Harry got a panicked look. "Wait! Do I have them?" He quickly searched through his robes, at last pulling out a small black box and opening it to reveal two simple gold bands. "Phew! I'd be dead meat if I'd lost these!" He ran his fingers lightly over the circlets and then put his lips to them.
Snape was disgusted. "You don't have to dandle and osculate them, you know."
"What?"
"Lacking in English vocabulary again, are we? To dandle and to osculate, Mr. Potter, mean--"
"Not for much longer," Harry said smiling dreamily. Mirth and joy were in his eyes.
"No, not much, but first we have to get through this blasted ceremony. As I was saying, I'm not sure the future Mr. and Mrs. Weasley would appreciate you slobbering all over their wedding rings. They will have blessings a plenty this day."
"How about I slobber over you instead?"
Such cheek from that insolent brat!
"That would be acceptable."
And accept it he did, so much so that the colour in their faces made them both appear nervous as they processed in for Ron and Hermione's nuptials.
