snupin_ldws round 1 week 3 prompt: missed opportunity, "first"; this one got me kicked out. ah, well, it was kind of a relief really.
Remus had left their house half an hour ago, but he was now shuffling back into their sitting room.
Severus glanced up from his Potions Monthly and sneered. “I trust your outing was fraught with disappointment.”
Remus sat at Severus’ feet, downcast. “They were all out, everywhere,” said Remus. “I Apparated as soon as I heard the release notice, but apparently I wasn’t fast enough.”
“You expected to be the first to arrive?”
“With my reflexes? Of course, I did,” Remus stated, a little put out. “They must have been lying in wait.” He shook his head.
“There are more civilized methods of obtaining what you want other than the primitive ritual of begging for free samples.”
“Yes, but they cost a fortune, which some of us don’t have,” Remus reminded him, “so I must look for specials, listen for announcements and enter competitions.”
“All of that bother when you could simply purchase the lousy doggy treats,” mocked Severus.
“They are good doggy treats! Expensive, but Moony loves them. I wanted to get them for the full moon tomorrow.” Remus stood to leave. “You could help, you know,” he muttered.
Severus pinched his nose. Sometimes he didn’t understand his mutt.
