Podfic Awareness 3

Mostly in terms of podfics, the authors have already written the story and the podficcer simply asks for permission to record it. But can there be more?

The relationship between a podficcer and author can be totally hands off, completely collaborative or anything in between. There are a lot of ways podficcers and authors can help each other, check out pod_aware on LJ or DW for more information.

Collaborative efforts do happen, either two people just decide one day while talking to go in together on a fic or it will start from a fest, such as the one I did with fire_juggler for the pod_together challenge. It's an interesting experience, one I recommend having, because there are different considerations going on: the flow of the dialog may need to change, "he said"/"she said"s could be added or eliminated based on the reader's vocals, words and phrases that have a lot of "s" or "p" sounds can be reworked to eliminate or reduce those popping sounds, maybe add in more onomatopoeia. You are making a different product, so you have to think about the writing differently. Whatever the case may be, it's an experience well worth having.
