As he ran, Harry thought back to the upheaval that had come into their lives.
They had been busy with the usual holiday activities--decorations, parties, gift buying, Yule. They had been out on the veranda setting up the bonfire when a grey owl flew low over the lake, arcing gracefully before landing.
Draco took the bird’s missive and opened it while Harry gave it treats. He saw Draco’s face go pale, and dread pooled in his stomach. What was wrong? Just news that their whole world was about to change with the addition of a squirming Winter Solstice gift.
